Shipstone Court, Codnor

Shipstone Court is a collection of 4 beautiful properties created from the former miners welfare in Codnor, they feature the original restored brickwork and welsh slate roof. The four properties have been lovingly crafted to keep their original features and heritage whilst using  modern building techniques to provide low running costs.

Shipstone Court are located in Codnor, which is close of Ripley. It offers good transport links to Derby, Nottingham and Sheffield. The thriving local real ale pub the Poet & Castle is a particular draw to the area..

Local facilities
There are many opportunities for walking, fishing and other recreational activities close by, ormonde fields golf club is located at the end of Goose Lane, anyone wanting to go for a walk just needs to step out of their front door. Codnor has a good sized Tesco Express as well as many other local shops, the Sainsbury’s in nearby Ripley is large & close by too. The local regular bus service stops at the end of the road with services to Ripley, Eastwood & Nottingham, the derby bus stop is just 100 meters further on.

History 

The miners welfare was built in 1923 by the local butterly company. With the decline in coal mining the miners welfare had fallen out of use recently and for was sold off in 2012 for development. The previous  occupiers – codnor boys cricket & football team gained funding from the football association for the construction of a purpose built facility.

The miners welfare had 2 major beer suppliers, one was the Mansfield brewery and the other the Shipstone brewery of Nottingham, it is after the latter that we have named the development.

Swallow Hill Homes acquired the building in the summer of 2012, gained planing permission to remove the later extensions and each wing will be split into just 2 houses.

Location

Codnor is just 2 miles away from the town of Ripley Mansfield. Nottingham & Derby are both a 12 mile drive, the nearest train station is Langley mill, just 2 miles away which features direct trains to Nottingham, Sheffield, London, Junction 26 of the M1 is 7 miles away, Sheffield 30 miles and Chesterfield 12 miles.
